Mountain Roadtrip to the Ancient Cave of Zeus

Come explore the back roads of Crete with us, as we take you on an unforgettable adventure!  Sprinkled with charming villages and working shepards, these mystical lands will make you feel like you’re back in ancient Greece.  Our first destination will leave you feeling like you just stepped out of a post card with its delightful stone houses and traditional influences.  Besides its authentic vibe, the village of Krasi is also home to one of the oldest plane trees on the island.

Take your time, sit under the tree and mingle through the traditional shops. Next, we will cruise up to the Monastery of Kera Kardiotissa where you can explore the grounds and enter the church that contains murals dating back to the 14th century.  Later on, we’ll continue up the windy mountain roads to the Plateau of Lassithi where the cave of Zeus lies.  There’s a short hike up to the cave with several switchbacks and stunning views of the farmlands below.  Not feeling up for the hike?  Don’t worry, you can always hitch a ride with a donkey.  Once you enter the cave, you will be in awe from its towering rocks, mystical energy, and captivating history.  As you  traverse through the cave, our guide will enthrall you with the stories, myths, and legends associated with this sacred site.
